My Ajusshi (My Mister)

At half one in the morning I finished watching the film-length final episode of My Ajusshi. It was worth staying up for. (Re-write below after coming across a fan-site where a differing translation of just one word dramatically changes the whole dynamic of the characters going into the last scene.)

I am so glad they never ate live octopus (as hinted at in an earlier episode) and, even more importantly, the writers gave us an elegant ending.

We've been through a lot with Park Dong-hoo and Lee Ji-an. Over the last fortnight I feel like I've been living a second life in the evenings; in the offices, bars, homes and winding, narrow back streets of Seoul. And like upon finishing a good book, I expect I will be carrying these characters around with me for a long time to come.

(A 2018 one season run of 16 episodes over 20 hours My Ajusshi picked up the South Korean Emmy-equivalent for best drama.)
