Alec Soth at Media Space, the Science Museum

link. So many iconic images here. Soth may be the last of a great line of traditionalists before digital manipulation secures a final re-defining of picture untruth that eclipses any naive faith in facts. He has a small town newspaper photographer sensibility seamlessly blended with an acute post-70s American awareness of how photographs can look and what counts as worth setting up the big ten eight camera for - subjects that are both something and yet nothing. His projects usually have the depth of years, a personal investment in the subject and a readiness to try out ways to present the results that is engaging.
